Resort, SEAIR tie up for discounted Boracay getaway

MANILA, Philippines - The latest addition to the Boracay Regency beach resort chain has tied up with Southeast Asian Airlines (SEAIR) for a discounted travel package to Boracay island.

For P8,994 per person on double occupancy, guests get a roundtrip airfare, a 3-day accommodation at Boracay Garden Resort, daily breakfast and dinner as well as land and sea transfers. Those on triple occupancy, on the other hand, pay P8,406.

The promo is valid from June 16 to September 30 this year.

Fast flights. SEAIR offers 35-minute flights to Caticlan, the nearest jump-off point to Boracay island.

"The partnership with Boracay Garden Resort is part of a long-standing relationship with the Boracay Regency group of resorts. Through the partnership, we increase the convenience we provide to our clients," said Patrick Tan, SEAIR vice president for commercial affairs.

"We offer packages inclusive of accommodation and airfare, transfers and other special inclusions. Holiday travelers can get a one-stop shop experience by booking our package," he added.

For his part, Boracay Regency Group chairman Henry Chusuey said, "It's a value-for-money offer. They get nice big rooms at a cheaper rate [plus airfare]."

Formerly called Hotel Seraph, Boracay Garden Resort rests on a 2-hectare property located at the center of Station 2. The Boracay Regency group bought the triple-A rated resort from a Korean owner last year, and is set to spend as much as P80 million for renovations.

Specifically, Chusuey said they are planning to put up a specialty restaurant and a convention ballroom, as well as redesign the lobby, gym, rooms and pool areas.

"You can't find a 2-hectare property right in the middle of Boracay nowadays...It was an offer too hard to resist considering its prime location," he said.

The renovations are expected to take place for a year starting June. Asked about how he wants the resort to look like, Chusuey said: "We want to make it very nice so you don't need to go outside."

Boracay Regency is the largest resort chain in Aklan province. Just recently, the company opened the Regency Lagoon Resort Boracay, the country's first resort that's exclusive to people aged 18 years old and above.

In the coming months, Chusuey said they will put up a 350-room resort in Panglao island, Bohol and a 60-room luxury villa destination in Coron, Palawan.

"The white sand beach in Panglao island is just as beautiful as Boracay's. The island is about 9 times bigger than Boracay and is only half an hour away from the Tagbilaran airport," he said.
